Thespians General Information
What is Thespians?
Thespians is a theater festival in which high school students have the opportunity to perform in 15+ categories and receive a rating from a panel of judges. Thespians has two levels: Districts and State. Every school is called a "Troupe," and Cypress is Troupe 6510.
Districts
The District level competition is a day-long event at the NSU University School in Davie on December 10th, 2022. The event costs $40 to participate per student, and students can either bring their own lunch or buy lunch at University School. Students can compete in up to three performance categories and two technical categories, in which they will receive a rating from a panel of judges. One piece is selected by the judges as the best in its category as is named the "Critic's Choice"; every Critic's Choice piece is showcased in the Closing Ceremony, in which all pieces that receive Excellent or Superior Ratings are recognized. There is also second place in each category named "Honorable Mention."
