MEMBERSHIP

OFFICERS
OFFICER DUTIES
PRESIDENT(S):
Responsible for all actions taken by the club and its members. Oversees all committees (including his/her own) and helps VP with district/state related things. Runs all meetings, keeps the advisor informed, and is responsible for creating agendas for each meeting.
VICE PRESIDENT(S):
Aid the president in overseeing committees and club. Helps run the meeting and everything related to DCPS and district competition.
SECRETARY:
Keeps attendance, records minutes, and keeps members informed. Responsible for emails. President’s right hand man or woman. Must create all announcements for morning show, marquee, phone calls, and Cypress Bay website. Must go to monthly IOC meetings. Creates playbills for all AMT shows.
TREASURER:
Shall keep an accurate account of the club’s funds. In charge of collecting money for dues, ticket sales and is best friends with the bookkeeper. In charge of their committee.
HISTORIAN:
in charge of recording meetings, parties, events with pictures and/or videos. Creates the slideshow and senior collage for end of year banquet. Keeps the bulletin board updated at all times and is in charge of Publicity Committee.
TECHNICAL ADVISOR:
In charge of the socials and any fundraising activities.
OUTREACH COORDINATOR:
In charge of giving back to the community via the arts and planning fundraisers for our club.
EVENT COORDINATOR:
In charge of creating fun social activities for our members.
SPECIAL EVENTS
DISTRICT AND STATE COMPETITIONS
- There are no requirements to be a member of Drama Club. Members must have a strong enthusiasm for the theater arts and attend 50% of Drama Club meetings.
- Students must maintain a 2.5 grade point average to perform in any Cypress Bay Production
- Members of Drama Club must be a part of and commit to at least one committee to be considered an active member of the Drama Club.
- Members must pay a $65 fee in order to be a full member and participate in the District competition.
- Drama cords may only be obtained if a member has performance in four shows and have attended at one state competition and/or three district competitions.
ATTENDANCE
- All members are required to attend 50% of the Drama club meetings
- Meetings should be held on a specific day of the week, every other week (so at least twice a month. Advisor/President is allowed to schedule an emergency meeting if necessary).
- One cannot miss more than 5 full days of school per quarter or else they will not be allowed to attend competition and perform in any Cypress Bay Production.
- If there are only a few points to discuss, a meeting may be cancelled and replaced with emails and announcements.
- If absent, it is a member’s duty and responsibility to gather all missed info from another member or an officer. Information from the meetings should be placed on the bulletin board.
- If one is part of a committee (which one should be if they are in Drama Club) and they need to miss a meeting, it is required that they notify said leader of their committee 24 hours in advance. Every committee member is important. If a member is missing, they must have an acceptable excuse.
- If Drama Club is putting on a Drama Club produced show and they cannot make it to rehearsal, they must notify either The Advisor/ The President/ The VP 24 hours in advance.
- Attendance will be reviewed thoroughly when board member applications begin.
OFFICERS
- Officers shall be elected by active Drama Club members for the next school year on an announced date at the end of the year.
- Officers must maintain a 2.5 grade point average, however a 3.0 is HIGHLY encouraged
- Officers must be enrolled at Cypress Bay
- Officers may be impeached due to specific reasons defined by the advisor or other officers. A meeting will be held and the specific instance will be discussed.
- All candidates must attend an interview for the specific position they are running for.
- In case of impeachment, elections will be held to replace that officer. If the president is impeached, the VP will take over and another board member will take the position of Vice President.
- Officers may only run if they are in an all year drama class or a very committed member to drama club

SPECIAL EVENTS
- End of the year banquet is open to ALL drama club members who have paid their dues and all drama classes
- May only attend if they have paid the entrance fee
DISTRICT AND STATE COMPETITIONS
- All performers must be approved by the advisor
- Must pay drama club dues in order to attend competitions
- No 9th graders may attend the state competition!
- IF category is filled, auditions will be held and the advisor will determine who performs.
- You must have at least a 2.5 GPA and you cannot have missed more than 10 days of school, unexcused or excused.
- Only top 6 selected pieces and the board are invited to go to states/compete at the state level.
